Common questions

What buyers need to know.

Straight answers about sourcing, availability, inspection, and the quote process.

What kinds of components do you source?

We focus on obsolete, end-of-life, allocated, discontinued, and hard-to-find electronic components—the parts that are no longer readily available through traditional distribution. We also support current-production requirements through franchised distribution.

Where do you source components from?

For current-production components, our primary channel is franchised distribution—authorized distributors directly affiliated with the manufacturer. When a part is obsolete, discontinued, or otherwise unavailable through authorized channels, we turn to our established network in the independent and open market. We don’t rely on the open market when authorized supply is available.

Why do parts use “Request quote” instead of “Buy now”?

Price and suitability for a hard-to-find component depend on quantity, source, date code, condition, inspection, traceability, and delivery. A request for quote lets those variables be validated before either party makes a commitment.

Is displayed availability guaranteed?

No. Availability shown in the catalog is aggregated and may be supplier-reported, and it can change quickly. We reconfirm each line before issuing a firm quote and identify the verification level in the response.

Can I submit a full BOM?

Yes. Use the contact page for a multi-line requirement, or email your BOM directly to Frank.Cap@precisioncomponentsourcing.com. We will return availability and options in one organized response.

Do you provide traceability?

Traceability varies by source and lot. State your requirement with the RFQ, and the quote will identify what documentation is available and any limitations before you order.

Can you help with a shortage or allocation problem?

Yes. When parts go on allocation or lead times stretch, we use our global supplier network and market knowledge to look for reliable alternate sources that keep your production moving. See our shortage mitigation page for more detail.

Can you support long-term obsolescence planning?

Yes. Component obsolescence can create long-term challenges for manufacturers and product owners. By working with you proactively, we can help identify potential supply risks and develop sourcing strategies that support your products throughout their lifecycle.

What inspection or testing is available?

The inspection scope is defined in the quote and scaled to the risk of the part. Depending on the requirement, options may include visual and marking inspection, dimensional checks, X-ray, XRF, decapsulation, solderability, and electrical testing. The quote states the actual scope.

Can I sell excess inventory?

Send a line list through the contact page and select “Sell excess inventory” as the subject. Excess and surplus offers are reviewed case by case.

How quickly will I receive a quote?

Simple, currently available lines are typically answered within one business day. Multi-line BOMs and requirements that need supplier evidence or a testing plan may take longer.
